On the 5th of November the Men's 1st XI will play hosts to Surbiton in their fourth home game of the Men's Hockey League Premier Division.
In this fixture last year East Grinstead were forced to share the spoils with Surbiton after a 2-2 draw. EG scored first in a well worked team goal finished off by Andy Piper at the back post, a volley from Surbiton marksman Alan Forsyth equalled the score at one goal a piece. He then scored a reverse stick shot from close range to put Surbiton ahead before Sam Driver deflected it in the goal to beat Gibson. EGHC Team News
East Grinstead only drew this fixture last year and have failed to beat Surbiton in the past two seasons. There are two former Surbiton players (Liam Ansell and Richard Hildreth) in the EG side that will be looking to show their old club that they shouldn't have let them go. EG's defence will be tested this game with brothers Daniel and captain Simon Faulkner looking to prevent Surbiton from scoring.
Surbiton Team News
Surbiton enjoyed a very successful campaign last year winning both the indoor and outdoor national titles. They will be the team all the clubs want to beat due to their success, but they not only have great players but a great coach in the form of former EG Legend Mark Pearn, who enjoyed great success in his first season of coaching from the sidelines, he will be hoping his side will be able to turnover East Grinstead away from home. One player who will play a big part in the game for Surbiton will be their star man up front, Alan Forsyth. He has one the golden stick in the Premier Division in the past two seasons and scored two against EG in this fixture last year.
Pushback will be at 2pm. Entrance Fees are £4 for adults and U18s go free. There will be a 10 minute Half-Time break in which kids are encouraged to use the pitch to practice and shoot at goal. The supporters are encouraged to ask their favourite players for their autographs after the match as they are leaving the pitch. We would like to wish all supporters a warm welcome at Saint Hill and hope you enjoy the match!
