Our newly appointed Men's Club Captain, Jordan Torrilla, has written to Men's Members to introduce himself. Read more here.

Dear EGHC Men's Members,

Having joined the club in 2004 aged 13, it is incredible to think I now have the honour of being the Men's Club Captain. In my time at the club I've had countless fantastic experiences, from my early days in the junior teams and the Badgers, to following the Men's 1s around Europe and touring Hamburg and Rouen on our historic Jacques Paloume Tour.

I have witnessed our club compete on the European stage and win national titles indoors and outdoors. But, if there is one thing I love about sport, it is how nothing is given and everything is earned. Despite a history of over 100 years, we must continue to compete to the highest level domestically and overseas. This is why I am calling on each and every one of you to help ensure this season is a memorable one, and one that reinforces our position as the Premier club in not only Sussex but the UK as well.

I am immensely proud to be the Men's Club Captain and I couldn't be more excited to represent our 124 year old club and our excellent Men's section.

My thanks go out to each and every one of you who has committed their time to helping our club not only survive, but thrive through the Covid-19 pandemic. I also want to say a special thank you to Wes Jackson for his hard work over the past few years. Wes has done an amazing job driving the Men's section, and ultimately the club, forward. And, I am excited to see how Wes can take our highly regarded junior section to the next level.

Myself, I am hoping this season is one to remember. With life almost back to normal, we have the opportunity to enjoy the sport we love in a way we haven't been able to for some time now. If there is one thing I'd ask of you, it is to support the club in its entirety. Where fixtures allow I would love to see each and every one of you arriving early to umpire or coach or staying late to have a beer and cheer on the team playing after you. Our clubhouse is one of the finest around and it's vital we make the most of it.

I hope to see you all very soon.

Yours in sport,

Jordan Torrilla
