After the great success of EG's #PlayinPink Campaign last year, with the Ladies 1st team raising £1,570 for BreastCancerNow, this October we are aiming to make #PlayinPink a clubwide effort and raise as much money & awareness as we can for this vital cause. 'Play in Pink' comes from BreastCancerNow's signature event 'Wear it Pink'

With breast cancer affecting 1 in 8 women and 350 men a year, and with over a quarter of cases are preventable, EGHC is getting ready to support Breast Cancer Awareness month this October.

There are 3 ways you can support this initiative and help the club provide amazing donations to charity.

Buy and wear a EGHC #PlayinPink training sweatshirt

In support of the national 'Wear it Pink' campaign, we have designed a unique sweatshirt that will be made available across the club in all Mens, Ladies & most child sizes with some of the child sizes being hoodies rather than sweaters. These are available at £29.99 –with postage costs of additional £4.99. All proceeds will go to charities introduced below.

The jumpers are available to purchase off the EGHC online shop https://eghockey.org.uk/collections/club-kit and we will also be taking orders at the EGHC Open Days on Saturday the 4th and Sunday 5th September at East Grinstead Hockey Club. The deadline for orders is Thursday the 16th September, this is so that we can get all of your jumpers out to you and ready to use for the start of October, ready to #playinpink!

Take part in our charity Prize Draw

Our fantastic club sponsors and amazing local East Grinstead businesses (thank you to all) have donated nearly £3,000 worth of prizes to be given away by the hockey club as part of a prize draw on October 22nd, national 'Wear it Pink' day.

Top prizes include an Apple Watch, 48 hours in a Mercedes car and £100 voucher for Jewelry and many more fab prizes.

Prize draw tickets will be available at our Club Open Days on the 4th and 5th of September. The fund raising team will also visit various training, match and social occasions on the run up to the 22nd of October.

Make a donation via JustGiving

Whether you will wear the jumper to #playinpink or not, we would welcome direct donations for our worthy cause. EGHC Club JustGiving Page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/eg-playinpink for those able to make donations.

Charities supported this year

This year with the club-wide campaign, we have chosen to support three fantastic charities:

  • BreastCancerNow who do vital care and support for those going through cancer treatment.
  • Coppafeel! set up to help educate young people on the importance of knowing their bodies and getting their breasts or pecs checked.
  • Barbells for Boobs, who provide support to incorporate physical activity for breast cancer risk reduction, treatment and survivorship.

The last 18 months has proved terribly challenging for all charities. That's why it's even more important that we all do what we can to support.

We will spread the word via the Instagram, Facebook and Twitter channels with #PlayinPink - inviting all the teams we play & train in to join some way, whether it is wearing pink shoe-laces or wearing pink bows in your hair everyone can join in.

Let's join together for breast cancer!
