Saturday 21st September... Click through for details...

An excited crowd were treated to goals galore in the first National League double header of the season where the top teams had mixed fortunes. The pitch at Saint Hill was buzzing, juniors embraced the opportunity to mascot, ball patrol and show their skills at half time and spectators savoured the bbq and pitch side bar in the sunshine.

The Men's 1s won 5-3 against Brooklands Manchester University with Goals from Matthew Blood, Chris Griffiths (2), Simon Faulkner and Ben Mackey enough to secure all three points for the home side. Seb Walton enjoying his debut for the men's top team. Chris Griffiths second must stand as a contender for goal of the season - watch it here.

The Men are away to Beeston this Sunday, but next at home for what should be a feast of hockey against newly promoted Old Georgians at 2pm on Sunday 6th October. There should be lots of international players on display, including some just about to represent GB in the forthcoming Olympic qualifiers at Lee Valley Olympic Park and we may also see the return of Ashley Jackson to Saint Hill. Once again, it promises to be a great afternoon. Free Entry for U18s whilst a small charge for adults of £4.

A disappointing home start for the East Grinstead Ladies 1st team, offering 5 new players to the team their home debuts, losing to league newcomers Loughborough Students 5:1. EG goal scored by Chloe Brown. Next week they take on Surbiton before returning to Saint Hill at 4.30pm on 5th October against Buckingham.

Elsewhere in the club, the newly promoted ladies 2nd team opened their league season with a strong performance against Reading recording a 4:0 win, as did the Ladies 4s, 8:0 against Eastbourne.

The other Mens teams have still to start their league programmes so competing in the Sussex Cup quarter finals the Mens 2nd team undoubtedly had the result of the day with an emphatic 16:0 win over Mid Sussex. However it must be said it was not quite as good as the previous round when they managed 17 past a Crawley side !! Quite clearly a trophy they don't want to lose.

Weekend stats;

After the dust had settled - P9, W6 D1 L2

49 goals scored, 21 conceded

5 clean sheets

Hat-tricks for Andy Blood, George Mustchin (M2), Doug Collingwood, Luka Jones, Arthur Thilo (Badgers), and Gen Busby (L4)
