Junior Memberships

Junior Memberships run for the regular hockey season which is from September through April.  Memberships can be purchased via our online store.  The rising profile of hockey has resulted in growing demand and so we typically begin the membership registration process ahead of the season each year.  We strongly encourage signing up and purchasing memberships ahead of "Registration Day" to avoid disappointment.  Membership enquiries can be directed at Junior.Admin@eghockey.co.uk.

EGHC Membership is broadly divided into three sections: Juniors (U6 to U12), Colts & Fillies (12 to U18), and Adult.  Each year we aim to run one or two "taster" sessions during the season for parents considering enrolling youngsters the following season.  U6 means youngsters who will reach the age of 6 during the 12 months from September 1.

All Junior memberships of EGHC include one hour of coaching each Sunday morning (for u6, u8, u10 and u12).  From time to time the Junior Section organises matches and competitions, both home and away; these are included in the membership cost.  Our U10 and U12 age groups also benefit from an hour of coaching after school one evening per week.  Please scroll down to see the full weekly Training Schedule.

Each season, EGHC hosts a "Registration Day" on either the first or second Sunday of the season.  The specific date of the Registration Day is notified via our web site, emails to those on our database and via our Twitter and Facebook channels.  Registration Day, for U6 to U12 members, begins at 08:15 on the Sunday morning and runs until midday.  Based on the Training Schedule (below) we request parents of each age group to arrive 30 to 45 minutes ahead of their child's session to complete registration.  On completion of registration, activities move to the hockey pitch at the times designated for each age group in the Training Schedule below.

On Registration Day, as all other days we recommend members bring hockey kit including a white shirt and coloured shirt (ideally blue), mouth guard and hockey stick as well as clean trainers to avoid walking mud onto EGHC's astro-turf.  Given the changeability of the weather its worth ensuring youngsters have warm items to wear as necessary.  East Grinstead Hockey Club recommends Guardian Pro for custom fitted mouth guards.

EGHC official kit (shorts, shorts, shirts, hoodies, socks etc) can be purchased from our local partner, SA Sports.  Please follow this link to learn about our kit and partnerships.

We strongly encourage friends and members of EGHC to follow our social media channels as these provide the most up to date information and links to more information regularly - sometimes even on the day of events depending on weather or other circumstances.

Junior members also benefit from member prices at our own Official EGHC Academy which runs day-camps for enthusiastic hockey youngsters during the school vacation periods.  All Official EGHC Academy camps are carried out at East Grinstead Hockey Club using our state of the art Edelgrass water-based astro turf and the great facilities of East Grinstead Sports Club.

During the sign-up period, Junior Members are entitled to add one EGHC Academy BOLT-ON per member.  A BOLT-ON is a block of four pre-paid EGHC Academy day camps at a special discount for our members.  There is more information about the Official EGHC Academy at our dedicated web site at www.eghcacademy.co.uk which also has links to our booking system, which is at the same web site as our membership online store.  Those who have BOLT-ONs can book the actual day camps by emailing academy@eghockey.co.uk

On progressing from the Junior (U6 to U12) section, we offer U18 memberships.  At this age group, youngsters become "Badgers and Bluebirds", training with emerging youngsters who can play both age group (U14, U16, U18) hockey typically on Sundays and also where applicable in the local "development leagues" on Saturdays.  Training sessions for these age groups are also listed on the Training Schedule below.
