It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Paul "Lloydy" Lloyd.

One of the true characters of the game. Paul was second generation EGHC; his father Andrew having helped build the original club house on the saint hill ground.  Paul is pictured in the front row, first on the left.

Paul had a love for adventure and DIY, going on many winter holidays in the mountains along with building the wooden dugouts and Vets bar at the club which still stand today.

Along with his brother David, Paul started playing for EGHC in the late 1960's and was a big part of the men's 1st Xi during his time - winning many league and cup titles for the club. Paul was also known internationally through links with Rouen and Flotbek and became a large character on the Jacques Paloume tour.

Paul and his wife Pauline had two children, Annabel and Jeremy who played hockey at EGHC into their teens and early 20's

Paul was known for his charisma and always brought friends along for the rise.  Notable projects included roping in friends to cut down the 60ft tree in his garden - during which he fell out of the tree, building a swimming pool or of course playing hockey. His friends always enjoyed the ride.

In later years Paul and Pauline moved to France to live the good life.

Paul, will be sorely missed by those that were fortunate to know him, and we send our condolences to family, Pauline, Annabel and Jeremy and grandchildren

A celebration of his life is yet to be confirmed but we will post once we get full details.
