EGHC Mens' 1st Team completed their pre-season programme with a 6:1 win against Brighton on Tuesday evening. Head Coach Glenn Kirkham was faced with the first tough decision in his new role, to select a squad of 16 having worked with an exciting and diverse squad of approaching 30 players during pre-season.
With the World League and Commonwealth Games overlapping with our domestic season, there will be plenty of opportunities for the wider squad this season, but tonight there was an opportunity for a narrower group of players to stake a claim to wear the Blue and White during Saturday 23rd's opening match of the season, sponsored by Gold Group. http://www.eghockey.co.uk/performance/performance-match-days/59-holcombe
Running out 6:1 winners completed a good period of preparation for the side and also saw some important moments as we approach that Holcombe game on Saturday at 6pm.
Wesley Jackson and Dominic Bowden also scored but Simon Faulkner (pictured) put in a Captain's shift with two short-corner goals.
Saturday against Holcombe will be a step up for the group, but with quality throughout there is reason to be cautiously optimistic about the season ahead.
Do come down to Saint Hill on Saturday and lend your support to both the boys and also the Ladies 1st Team who open the programme at 4pm also against Holcombe !
