The Talent Academy is delighted to report a hugely successful year, climaxing with fantastic performances at the TA Cup in Nottingham 25-27th July.
Our academy's cup squads represented 21 different school and 12 different clubs across the two genders, with 14 of the 36 selected players currently in state education.
Each of these players receive individualised coaching programmes, spanning 11 months of the year. The academy is part of the official England Hockey Player Pathway, and we are one of 24 licensed Talent Academies in the country, the only one within Sussex.
Alongside the teams' successes at the cup, we are delighted to note multiple EGTA players being taken forward to England Assessments, with the prospect of potentially adding to the list of current East Grinstead players currently in England Age Group squads.
We are thrilled that EGHC members, as of the 2024-25 season made up around 50% of the Boys squad and around 30% of the Girls, they include:
Fred Cable
Ed Collingwood
Luca Gazzina
Reuben Gazzina
Malachi Hayes
Fred Haywood (c)
Morris Kane
Monty Richmond
Zeb Robbie
Sophia Jeffrey
Erin Murphy
Isolda Rees
Girls
The Girls TA Qualified for Pool D at the cup, placing 4th in the South Conference. All matches in the conference phase were closely contested, displaying the girls' team capabilities to perform, especially noting utilising the full squad rotating players in/out and maximising match play opportunities for all members of the squad.
At the cup, EGTA played against East, Timperley and Exeter TA's, who all also placed in 4th place in their respective regional conferences. The girls played with great energy, displayed attacking prowess and some phenomenal teamship skills which led to them winning two of their three matches, including an emphatic 4-0 win versus Exeter on the final day, placing the girls 15th from 24 TA's nationwide.

The Boys TA Qualified for Pool A at the cup, placing 1st in the South Conference. All players in the squad were given playing opportunities in competitive fixtures, in an exceptionally tough regional pool, where our boys side displayed great attacking creativity and flair, with a clinical edge in front of goal.
At the cup, EGTA played against Exeter, Beeston and Old Loughtonians TA's, who all also placed in 1st place in their respective regional conferences. The winner of this pool would be crowned champions of the England Hockey TA Cup, as the representative champions from each region's qualifier.
The boys scored 8 goals across the three games, conceding only three times. Each match was tightly contested, yet ultimately winning all three matches, EGTA are crowned national champions, placing 1st from 24 TA's nationwide.
