The culmination of the U10 and U12 age group seasons reached its climax this past weekend, with the South East Regional Finals hosted at Hurst College.

EGHC sent four teams to the finals - the U10 Boys, U10 Girls, U12 Boys and U12 Girls, with hopes high for our teams!

U12 Girls

2nd place

Our U12 Girls kicked off the day looking to build on the Bronze Medal they had recently won at the Holland Elite Cup. The team won 4 of their 5 league matches to comfortably finish second, coming up against old foes, Knole Park, in the final. As was the case in Holland, the girls scored a last second short corner against their opponents, with shuffles deciding the outcome on this occasion. Unfortunately, it was not to be for the girls, with KP winning 3-2 to claim their spot at Nationals. This meant a silver medal for the girls! Well done, team!

Squad: L. Lewis (GK), T. Watt (C), F. Lock, E. Wood, C. Long, E. Poate, P. Lambert, E. Stubbs, M.Farrelly

Coach: M. Lewis

U10 Girls

6th place

The other tournament taking place during the morning was the U10G competition. Coming up against some very good teams, the EG Hockey girls came a highly commendable 6th place, only just being pipped to 5th by Guildford. The coaches very pleased with their progression as the tournament went on, growing into every game! The girls have had a great season, having won at Ron Easton, the Sussex Plate and finished runners-up in the Sussex Cup. We can't wait to see how they progress next season! Well done, girls!

Squad: E. Knox (GK), I. Mansell, P. Emery (C), D. McCarthy, L. Holland, J. Austin, A. Oddy, T.Hitchcott, L. Pittingale-Stott, F. Hingston

Coach: R. Stott

U10 Boys

4th place

Our U10 Boys went to Hurst in hot and sticky conditions, but with high hopes of medalling at the finals. The boys played some excellent hockey, winning 3 and drawing 1 of their 5 league matches, with big wins against Knole Park and Hawks along the way. Unfortunately, they missed out on the final on goal difference, and would take on Sevenoaks for the bronze medal. Despite dominating for large periods of the match they could not break the deadlock and eventually succumbed on shuffles. We are very proud of their efforts, and on any other day they could have come away as tournament winners such is the quality in the team. Well done, boys!

Squad: C. Young (GK), H. Gregory-Young (C), T. Martin, E. Duffield, W. Callin, T. Bouck-Standen, W. Powley-Mapp, C. Reeves, A. Mansell

Coach: T. Tyers

U12 Boys

3rd place

In what proved to be the most competitive tournament of the day, our U12 Boys went into the tournament well prepared having done some video analysis with their coach in the lead up to the day. Such was the quality of all the teams there, EG actually topped the league with one game to go but with only three points separating 1st from 5th! Eventually the boys would finish 3rd, to head into the Bronze Medal match against Old Georgians. The boys went ahead early and were excellent in defence to secure the win, 1-0! Having originally finished 2nd in the Sussex Cup, the boys have trained hard since and the club is very proud to see them medal at the Regionals Finals. Well done, boys!

Squad: T. Neil-Smith (GK), A. Poate, B. Chapman, D. Laurie (C), T. Leadbitter, O. Hollis, A. Foster, E. Kelly

Coach: W. Denny
