EG Men openned up the action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Beeston in a 6 goal thriller.   Going three goals down after only 22 minutes, EG made things difficult for themselves, but gradually clawed their way back into the game.  Moments before half-time, Joey Naughalty struck from a penalty corner, reducing the deficit to 1:3.  Coaches Deakin and Beckett brought the team together for half time and a much improved performance resulted in the second half.

Joey Naughalty struck again in the 61st minute and constant pressure resulted in a fraught final few minutes, with EG scoring in the last play of the game.  Louis Gittens again putting the bacll in the back of the net for his 4th goal of the season, a well timed equaliser in the 70th minute.

The Ladies were next up in an interesting encounter due to the number of University of Birmingham Graduates in the EG side, competing against their old alter mater, as well as a former EG girl currently studying at the University.

EG broke the deadline in the 11th minute with a goal from Jess Denniff deflecting a Bray shot past the Birmingham 'keeper.  Five minutes later, Sophie Bray took her 5th goal of the season with a backhand strike from the top of the circle and the match remained fairly even until half-time.  Both sides grabbed a goal each in the third quarter, with Bray netting her 6th of the season after a rebound off the post while former EG girl, Coca Hall scored for Birmingham in the 67th minute to make the final few minutes somewhat tense.

The match was live-streamed and is still available on our YouTube Channel HERE, including great commentary from Pippa Chapman and Becky Waters !
