Thankyou to the combined team of around 10 coaches and managers that supported the teams as well as the army or parents who made the trip to support.  Almost all teams enjoyed their overnight experience with a fantastic opportunity for parents, coaches and managers to connect.

Day One

Our Under 12 Girls got EGHC off to a fantastic start, securing a silver medal! They finished second in their pool to qualify for the Cup Finals Pool, defeating Surbiton and Stourport, before losing 1-0 to KP in a closely fought contest! A lot of these U12 Girls are new to indoor hockey, but they can now add this silver medal to the gold they won back at the London Grand Slam in October. Huge mention must go to S. Toulson who won the Player of the Tournament!

Team: E. Wood (Captain), E. Poate, E. Stubbs, P. Lambert, S. Toulson, H, Gregory-Young (GK), C. Long, A. Olivier

Coach: M. Lewis

The U12 Boys got off to a brilliant start, defeating Surbiton 4-3 early on. These boys played some fantastic hockey, and despite beng one of the youngest teams there they managed to finish a very credible 8th out of 13. With the majority of the squad being under 11, we are very excited to see them return to Nottingham next year with another year of indoor training under their belt. Special mention must go to our young U10 Goalkeeper, H. Gregory-Young, who played an astounding 240 minutes of hockey throughout the day, playing for both our U12 Boys and Girls teams!

Team: D. Laurie (Captain), L. Shannon, H. Gregory-Young, E. Bouck-Standen, B. Griffiths, A. Foster, D. Emmerson, A. Poate

Coach: F. Jackson

Day Two

Our Under 16 Girls went into the tournament hoping to build on the Gold Medal they won at the K2 in Crawley back in October. Placed in a tricky pool with the likes of Hockey Mentors, JK Hockey, Sevenoaks and Teddington, the girls managed to top their pool, winning 5 of their 6 matches and only conceding 2 goals. They came up against an excellent Hertford team in the final, and came away with a 2-1 win, keeping out a PC right at the end! Our coaches commented that the final was some of the highest standard of indoor hockey they had seen in any age-group - well done to all our EGHockey players!

Team: S. Jeffrey (Captain), E. Tuffield, L. Macaskill, L. Lambert, M. Francis (GK), L. O'Neill, A. Dobbs, D. Maclay

Coach: F. Jackson

The Under 16 Boys had a tricky pool with the likes of Wimbledon, JK Hockey and Hockey Mentors. With a squad of seven, they put in some excellent performances to finish 10th out of 13, with fatigue and injuries coming in to play towards the end. The boys showed amazing fight, and played some excellent indoor hockey with close results in the majority of their games! The boys have already showed great progress in our indoor programme, and we are looking forward to seeing how they develop in their preparations for Derby. J. Charters made some superb saves in goal, demonstrating why he is such an exciting young talent at EGHC

Team: A. Pennington (Captain), W. Boulton, B. Boulton, J. Charters (GK), A. Neil-Smith, L. Channon, T. McCarthy

Coach: J. Green

Our U18 Girls, fresh off the back of securing a place at the England Hockey Indoor Nationals, turned up to Nottingham with plenty of momentum. With Biba Mills in the squad having only just returned from the Junior World Cup in Chile, our girls won all their matches - scoring an incredible 30 goals in 5 matches, with the likes of I. Rees, E. Murphy and L. De Bruin ensuring only 3 goals were conceded down the other end. The hockey played by our girls was some of the best seen at the tournament. This ensured another Gold Medal for East Grinstead Hockey Club.

Team: I. Rees (Captain), B. Mills, L. De Bruin (GK), A. Carter, L. Hughes, A. Smith, E. Murphy, L. Nelson, G. Pitman, R. Dobbs

Coach: J. Green

Day Three

Our Under 14 Boys arrived the next day looking to build on the silver medal they won at Crawley. They got off to a brilliant start, playing some incredibly mature indoor hockey to beat Cheltenham 2-0. Some tricky and closely fought matches followed against some great teams, losing 2-1 to eventual tournament winners Canterbury, but comments from opposition teams noted how well organised our boys played making it difficult for all their opponents. Most of the team are new to our indoor programme this season, and Fergus Jackson was very pleased with how they are progressing. They finished 17th out of 23.

Team: R. Vesey Holt (Captain and GK), T. Proctor, A. Beer, H. Donaldson, L. Donaldson, X. Aspinell, S. Poate, D. Robbie

Coach: F. Jackson

Our final team to take part up in Nottingham was our U18 Boys team. Arriving with a slightly thin squad of 7 players, the team topped their group to progress to the Cup Finals pool. They came up against some very good teams in JK Hockey and Teddington, losing some closely fought matches, but managed to secure a win against Cambridge to come home with a bronze medal. A special mention must got to A. Pennington who was playing up an age-group but brought mature solidity to the defensive line.

Team: F. Haywood, E. Collingwood, A. Hoskins, M. Ohlsson-Baskerville (GK), A. Pennington, M. Nuttall, Z. Robbie

Coach: J. Green

This meant EGHC returned home to Saint Hill with four medals, and experience of participating in a major event across mutliple age groups.  From the energy around the groups our feeling is that this was an all round success and we would like to thank Indoor Hockey UK for such amazing organisation. A fantastic set of results and testament to all the players and coaches hard work in our junior indoor programme

Twenty-eight of our juniors in the teams are already on the clubs adult team pathway, with twenty in our 3s, 2s and 1s !  Events like this are helping to accelerate their experience of of flight competition.

Huge thanks must go to our coaches, with some staying up in Nottingham for the duration of the tournament. Another massive thanks to the tournament organisers and umpires who put on a fantastic tournament for everyone - we had a great time!
