Indoor Hockey Success

Indoor-Christmas

Indoor hockey is a big part of EGHC's DNA.  This season we have significantly raised its profile with great results.  Read more...

The club has made great strides on its junior indoor hockey programme this season, with more indoor hockey on offer than ever! Indoor Hockey is known for developing a players technical skills, with certain game rules providing a new challenge for our juniors.

It has been great to see so many players in our own indoor hall on a regular basis. We regularly see a packed out hall for the Ministars and TDA sessions, led by the amazing Andy Bartlett and Fergus Jackson - both coaches with plenty of indoor national/ premier league experience between them.

Our U16s and U18s have also been training once a week, led by M1s player, Josh Green, with some excellent results to show for it.

Some highlights:

  • We have seven teams compete at the Indoor Hockey UK tournament at the K2, Crawley, in October, a tournament that brings together other progressive clubs from across the country. We are pleased to report that our teams won three of the competitions (U12 Girls, U16 Girls and U18 Girls), and one finished runners-up (U14 Boys). Not only that, but three of our players received Players of the Tournament awards. The club was incredibly proud of everyone who took part!
  • We also entered our U12s and U14s into the StepChange tournament at Epsom, providing them with even more opportunities to prove their skills in this amazing format of the game.
  • The club also hosted the South East U18 Girls Indoor Finals, where our U18 Girls won which means they progress through to the National Finals
  • Our U16 Girls finished 2nd at the Regional Finals, with our U16 Boys and U18 Boys finishing 3rd.
  • The club also recently purchased new indoor boards to ensure fast-paced hockey!

It is still early days in our junior indoor hockey journey, but it is amazing to see the successes that have already come to fruition. We are already looking forward to seeing how our teams do at the next Indoor Hockey UK tournament in Nottingham in December!
