EG Ladies completed their fifth and final EuroHockey Indoor match today, playing agains Railway Union HC from Ireland in the match that would decide the title winners and the runners up.  EG's pathway to the match had been two wins and two draws and they prepared well to face a side that had a high scoring record.

EG opened the scoring however in the 5th minute with an open play goal from Pippa Lock.  Courtney Hansford doubled EG's lead in the 20th minute to steady any half-time nerves, again with a field goal.  With no goal in the third quarter, Railway Union threw everything into the final quarter.  However in the 32nd minute. Pippa Lock broke away down the right and selflessly played the ball across to Lydia Macdonell who skilfully lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper to make it 3.  Railway Union did manage to pull one goal back in the 35th minute but could not maintain the level of pressure.

The result means EG Ladies bring home the EuroHockey Indoor Club Trophy with their winners' medals, while Amy Thompson will also bring back the Player of the Tournament award.

The hallmark of EG's play across the weekend were team performances. Several players chipped in with key goals at key moments:

Chloe Brown - 4 goals

Pippa Lock - 3 goals

Amy Thompson - 3 goals

Ruth Evans, Carlota Gomez and Courtney Hansford - 2 goals

Guadalupe Lacort and Lydia Macdonell - 1 goal

The other members of the squad were Issy Field (GK), Harriet Mitchell (c), Olivia Breed

EG's Head coach was Mary Booth, assisted by Richard Organ, and with Team Manager Jojo Davis, Physio Jill Hansford and Video Analyst Gareth Ikin.
